This time, I made empal for our lunch and dinner, and it's made from beef...(yea, I know beef again!). I think, I never find empal in other countries except Indonesia......
When I was a kid, my mom liked make empal manis for us, and we loved it so much. Unfortunately, I can't find mom's recipe for her empal manis, so I browsed here and there, and I found the recipe from NCC by Fatmah B (my fave chef ;)). And......it is soooooo delicious. The meat is so tender! My hubby said,"The meat is melted in my mouth." That's true! Myself, loved it so much!! I dunno how many years I never eat empal manis anymore since my mom can't cook anymore :(....(heez, I really miss you mom!!).

Empal Manis
Bahan:
500 gr daging sapi tanpa lemak
1,5 ltr air
4 sdm ketumbar, sangrai, haluskan
5 bh bawang putih, haluskan
2 bh bawang merah, haluskan
1 sdt garam
1 ruas jahe, memarkan
150 gr gula jawa, sisir
Minyak goreng secukupnya
Cara membuat:
Iris daging agak pipih. Didihkan air, masukkan daging, rebus hingga empuk. Angkat, pukul-pukul hingga memar dan menipis.
Panaskan sedikit minyak goreng, tumis bawang merah, bawang putih dan ketumbar hingga harum, tuangi air kaldu daging aduk rata, masukkan gula jawa dan jahe, biarkan mendidih, masukkan daging yang sudah memar. Masak hingga air kaldu surut dan sisa sedikit. Panaskan minyak goreng jumlah banyak, goreng daging hingga coklat kekuningan, angkat.
